Marco Abruzzi is a Chartered Mediator and Chartered Arbitrator who brings more than 24 years of experience as litigation and arbitration counsel, energy and mining contract negotiator and manager, and dispute resolution professional to his work as a neutral.

Marco mediates and arbitrates business and commercial disputes, including shareholder and partnership conflicts, closely held business disputes, complex contractual claims, construction including delay claims, energy and resource extraction disputes. Counsel retain him for matters that require a neutral who can quickly understand a complicated record, identify what is really driving the dispute, design a process proportionate to the case, and move the parties toward either resolution or a clear and efficient determination.

Before establishing his full-time neutral practice, Marco practised with a Vancouver litigation boutique, acting in complex litigation and arbitration matters. Earlier in his career, he served as Crown Counsel with the Department of Justice Canada, working in the Business & Regulatory Law, Aboriginal Law, and National Security & Defence sections. He also served as legal counsel to the Department of Fisheries and Oceans and the Ministry of Transportation. His experience in both private practice and government gives him a broad perspective on disputes involving businesses, governments, Indigenous and corporate interests as well as sophisticated contractual relationships.

Marco has undertaken advanced dispute resolution training at Harvard Law School, the University of Oxford and the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators. His approach combines rigorous legal analysis with a practical understanding of negotiation, human dynamics and commercial decision-making.

Marco founded Abruzzi ADR Arbitration + Mediation to devote his practice exclusively to dispute resolution. He now serves as mediator, arbitrator and med-arbitrator in matters across Canada, with a particular presence in Vancouver, Calgary and Toronto.

Marco is a member in good standing of the Law Societies of British Columbia, Alberta and Ontario.
