Arbitration and the Rule of Law

On 20 January 2026, the Ontario Chapter of Ciarb Canada, the Toronto Commercial Arbitration Society, and the Western Canada Commercial Arbitration Society are pleased to bring you “Arbitration and the Rule of Law”, a webinar discussion with Professors Fabien Gélinas and Tamar Meshel.

 

The webinar will take place from 5:30 – 6:30pm (EDT) on Zoom, generously hosted by Arbitration Place. Registrants will receive the Zoom link in advance of the meeting.

 

Fabien Gélinas is a Professor and Sir William C. Macdonald Chair at McGill University’s Faculty of Law. He teaches and conducts research in international dispute resolution and heads the Private Justice and the Rule of Law Research Group. Professor Gélinas is a former General Counsel of the ICC International Court of Arbitration and past president of the ICC Canada Arbitration Committee. He acts as arbitrator, expert, and consultant on dispute resolution and legal reform.

 

Tamar Meshel is an Associate Professor at the University of Alberta Faculty of Law. She is an expert in Canadian, U.S., and international commercial arbitration, having worked at an international law firm in Vancouver and as Deputy Counsel at the ICC International Court of Arbitration in Paris. She is the author of over 50 publications, including amicus briefs to the U.S. Supreme Court; the most recent is Arbitration Law: Statutes, Cases, and Commentary, forthcoming in February from LexisNexis Canada.
