Arbitration Experience – As Arbitrator • Appointed tribunal member in an international arbitration seated in Cairo, administered by the Cairo Regional Centre for Commercial Arbitration (CRCICA). • Appointed as chair in an international arbitration seated in Nigeria relating to a multi-million dollar construction dispute. • Acted as the sole arbitrator in a domestic construction dispute between a Nigerian Government Agency and its contractors. The proceedings were conducted at the Abuja Multi-Door Courthouse, and the award was delivered in a record time. • Appointed as co-arbitrator in a Shareholders’ dispute within the Oil and Gas Sector in Nigeria.
Arbitration Experience – As Counsel • Lead Associate of the team that advised Nigerian government institutions on sovereign immunity claims relating to the enforcement of the arbitral award (now valued $10billion) in the popular Process & Industrial Developments Limited v. Federal Republic of Nigeria (P&ID), against the Federal government of Nigeria. • Lead associate of the team that represented the former shareholders of a downstream oil and gas company in connection with breach of warranty claims arising from the sale of majority shares in the Company- in an arbitration before the London Court of International Arbitration; • Part of the team that represented an international oil company in connection with an ICSID arbitration in relation to an investment treaty claim against the Federal Republic of Nigeria; • Represented a Nigerian company in conjunction with Turkish Counsel in respect of an ICC arbitration against its technical partner, in connection with claims arising from its acquisition of a 60% stake in a Nigerian successor electricity distribution company in Nigeria running into circa US$17.5 Million; • Advised a construction company in relation to five (5) sperate ad-hoc arbitrations in connection with the construction and development of an airport in Nigeria in a cumulative claim of circa US$12 Million; • Part of the team that represented an Electricity Distribution Company in an ad hoc arbitration in relation to alleged breach of the Deferred Payment Agreement; • Provided law advisory and opinions in relation to an LCIA arbitration arising from implementation of oil well exploration contracts involving a number of IOCs. |
