Benjamin Basson
Ben Basson is an arbitrator specializing in Canadian and international mining and construction matters.
He is also registered as a professional quantity surveyor (PQS) with 24 years of international experience in mining and construction projects and provides independent commercial advisory services to parties involved in capital projects and with assets spread across North and South America, Europe, Asia, Malaysia as well as Africa.
As a construction project/ subject matter expert he regularly does technical reviews on high profile projects for contractual risk, claims, disputes, schedule- and potential delays together with its impact on project cost. During his career he has overseen and managed teams to support the completion of various large capital projects, including the deepest Gold mine operation in the world at one point (2005 – 2008 – Western Deep Levels/ Tautona), located West of Johannesburg, South Africa. He has been involved in numerous independent capital project reviews for mining projects in North America but have also spent considerable time reviewing South American mining and metals projects.
He has been appointed to act as an expert witness, subject matter expert, mediator and arbitrator in a number of substantial cases, involving, among other subjects;
