Stanley G. Fisher

Academic Qualifications: Stan G. Fisher was called to the Ontario Bar in 1961 after obtaining his law degree from the University of Toronto Law School. He was appointed Queen’s Counsel in 1975.

Arbitration Experience: Over the past 10 years Mr. Fisher has served as sole Arbitrator, nominee and Chair of numerous panels in commercial disputes involving oppression remedies, grain elevators, First Nation claims, product liability, securities issues, all types of contract disputes, shareholder remedies, real property disputes, commercial land use matters, estate litigation, construction matters and employment disputes.

Mr. Fisher has had an exemplary career spanning five decades in commercial litigation and appearing in all levels of court including the Supreme Court of Canada. For the past eight years he has devoted his practice exclusively to neutral work, both as Arbitrator and Mediator.

Peer Review:  Mr Fisher has been repeatedly cited up to and including 2018, in Chambers Global in the category Dispute Resolution: Most in Demand Arbitrators-Nationwide-Canada.

Mr. Fisher has been peer reviewed for arbitration, mediation and ADR, in L’Expert Best 500 Lawyers in Canada. He has been awarded Martindale-Hubbell highest rating “AV” for his skill and sense of ethics.

In 2009, Mr. Fisher was the first recipient of the Catzman Award granted by the Advocates Society for professionalism and civility.

He is past Chair of the University of Toronto Discipline Tribunal. He is also past Chair of the Class Proceedings Committee.

In 1998 he became a Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers
