Janet Walker

Professor Janet Walker, JD DPhil, is an independent arbitrator based in Toronto at Arbitration Place, in London at Outer Temple Chambers, and in Sydney, Australia.
Janet has served as sole arbitrator, co-arbitrator and chair in ICC, ICDR, DIAC, HKIAC and SIAC-administered, and in ad hoc arbitrations in a variety of seats. Her matters cover a range of industries including construction, heavy equipment, M&A, shareholder, distribution, intellectual property, environmental, finance and employment.
She is a member of a number of arbitral panels including the ACICA, AIAC, BVI, CAA CIETAC, HKIAC, ICDR, JCAA, KCAB, Shanghai, Shenzhen, SIAC and Ukrainian Chamber panels, and has a good working knowledge of Spanish and French.
Janet is a professor of law (past associate dean) at Osgoode Hall Law School, a member of the Ontario Bar, and a licensed legal consultant of the New York State Bar. She authors Canada’s main text on private international law and many other books and articles in the field of international and comparative dispute resolution. She is currently Vice Chair of ICC Canada and the Panel Convener of the GAR-CIArb Seat Index. In 2018 received the CIArb Canada’s Award for Distinguished Service to Arbitration.
